Slow cooker/Remoska or Halogen Oven?

In order to stay in a job  I'm going to be living away from home during the week in a room in a shared house.
There is a fair amount of freezer space (I'm told) and my plan is to do a smaller version of batch cooking whilst there and to do stir fries etc. so I don't have to spend all night cooking.
I'm torn between whether to buy a small slow cooker but I'm out of the house for 12 hours plus and I wonder whether this is too long to leave something on? Our home slow cooker cooks fairly quickly. I could use one in conjunction with a timer switch though?
Or do I buy the Remoska I've been coveting for so long....can I cook stews in it? How would I manage that if I was out all day?
Then I saw the halogen ovens, but I don't think I can cook stews and stuff in one of those can I?
Sooo....what do I buy? I don't really want to buy more than one gadget.
