Hi,
This is my first posting- so please be gentle with me!!:A
I recently contacted my current lender Bristol and West as i am currently in the process of letting out the property i live in and am buying a house to move into.
To cut a very long story short they agreed to lend and gave me a AIP-however when the application was received -i got a call on friday to say that the application had been reviewed by an underwriter and i no longer met their criteria ( as i am self employed).
They apologised and said that they were perhaps prepared to lent if I could up my deposit and so i asked them to put the process on hold until i could discuss it with my partner.
After some thought -on monday i called them to say that i did not want to go throught with the application and that i wanted my paperwork returned to me which they agreed to do. I have since applied for a mortgage with another lender who is prepared to accept my self employed status.
My problem is that after checking my credit file today i noticed that the B&W have undertaken a credit check on me today- even though I told them on monday that i did not wish to proceed - also they have taken the valuation fee from my cc on monday!!
1. When do I stand with regard to the credit check and can i get this removed from my file?
2. Can I get my valuation fee back??
Help!!

I am not optimistic.
You asked to borrow money.
You were given an agreement in principle.
They ran a credit check which cost them money.
We do not know when they initiated the check do we?
They did a valuation.
You dropped out.
It may well be that other more knowledgable posters than I will have a different and more welcome answer for you.
Good luck................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0 -
Sorry if i didnt make myself clear..
They actually took the payment for the valuation on Monday after i asked them to place the application on hold on friday...The valuation has not taken place..
They untook the CC today- wednesday!!:mad:Ellen.Ellie:hello:0 -

The credit check was the AIP/application, there is nothing to remove.
Also one credit check really isn't going to affect things.0 -
Just some feedback to let you know that the B&W have refunded my valuation fee and are removing their footprint from my credit file at both equifax and experian.:D
I have also recived a letter of apology from them letter today admitting their mistake of continuing to process the application when I asked them to put it on hold- yipee!!:j
Well done Bristol and West for being magnanimous enough to admit when you are wrong!!:T :TEllen.Ellie:hello:0 -
Bristol & West's admin is horrendous - we were sent someone else's morgage statement in error. When I phoned and told them they just asked me to tear it up and bin it!! Made me wonder who was receiving my finacial details. It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.0
