No. Normally what would happen is that X company registers a default. Then Y debt collection agency will probably - not always - register a search and/or a default. The search that the DCA registers will show as a DCA search. But every search on your file only stays for 12 months anyway before they drop off.

Usually once the debt has been passed to a DCA the the original default placed by the original lender will then show on your file as satisfied or settled.

So no a debt cannot be re registered as far as I am aware, nor has it ever happened in my experience, and believe me there's been lots. The only way I can see it happening is if it gets sold on to another DCA then the whole process starts again. Which is a pain.

In other words once you've defaulted or got a CCJ and you make an arrangement to pay. Even if it is as little as £1 a month. As long as you pay that amount every month how can they re register the debt? You should have a nice row of o's.

I know that CCJ's become statue barred after 6 years. However I'm unsure if the same applies to a default, but I don't see why it shouldn't.
