    Hi

    How old is this debt?

if you have not paid anyhting towards it or acknowledged it in writing for 6 years then it is statute barred and you do not have to pay.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

So, let's get this straight? You forgot about a debt you had with a catalogue? Then you've not had any letters which, unless you've moved, I don't see how this could be possible if you didn't pay it. Is it YOUR debt is what I am saying here.

With relevence to the red type above. Then, surely, you've answered your own question? Who is the debt with? Anyway.
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.
  • sorry i should have went into more detail. i had a direct debit set up for the account but i switched bank accounts and compleatly forgot to set it up again. i had the account at my mums address and i moved out for about a year but i have been back at my mums for over a year. i think its a bit odd that i havnt had any letters in over a year but i really want to get it paid off. i wrote to littlewoods about 2 weeks ago and they said they have no account with in my name which is why i have no clue what to do

Then the debt doesn't exist then going in what you said. Surely? If no record, no account?

Which is why I suggested, especially on the face of what you've replied with, is it your account? Potentially has someone used your name to open an account?

Hang on, I am really not making much sense of any of this. They do not have an account record yet you are CERTAIN you did. It's on your credit file ... So you are saying you want to pay a nonexistent debt? Your confused, yes so am I. :D:confused:

  • Grattan appeared on mine a while ago so I rang them and they had no record of me. It was very odd. They wouldn't take payment of the 60 quid and wrote to me confirming they had no account. Unexplained error.

Hi Fashionista, this is a confusing one. I think I know what you mean though, that you had an account with "lx direct" (is it?) and now the company has changed name? It would be helpful if you could hook out any old correspondence from them regardless of the age to try and pin down where the company has gone to. With any luck they've gone under!

Perhaps you could use the Companies House website to see if they are trading under a new name, it may not necessarily be Littlewoods even if they have bought the company.

Apologies if this doesn't work, it is just a thought as to why Littlewoods say they've not heard of you.

Lemme know how you get on.
