laptop won't load

Hi -

All of a sudden my laptop has stopped working. Each time I put on the computer it just comes onto a screen that says "We apologise for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully..." and I can choose options like last known good configuration, safe mode, start normally.

If I choose any of the options it will go through the XP screen, but then flash a blue screen and restart again, and go back to the original screen.

I've tried running BIOS and booting from CDs but can't do any!

Thank you!

Have you got the XP Operating Disc?

If so youll probably need to run a REPAIR with it.

When you go into BIOS there is an option to reboot on error. Uncheck it. This will tell you why it is rebooting.

If you can't boot from the OS CD then it may be a registry problem. You will have to buddy the hard drive on another PC with the same FAT type and copy the default registry hives in, put the hard drive back and it should boot. Then do a system restore in Windows.

I can't get into BIOS too but found the option to stop reboot on error on the F8 screen.. I get the error as STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x84327190, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000).

I don't have a floppy drive in the laptop (but have a USB one, don't think it'll work though)..

Edit: I can get into bios and moved CD Drive to number 1 in boot order, but still came to same error page.

i had the same problem as you,go to this link http://commandwindows.com/recovery.htm
    read this section
Accessing the Recovery Console Without a Windows CD

    downloaded at this link.
it will give you instructions on how to create a cd that will boot your laptop to the recovery console, from there you run the CHKDSK command, and your machine should be fine,it sounds complicated, its not,if you need any help pm me.

  • i suppose a dvd would be fine, just remember, when you have made the dvd/cd to set the laptop to boot from the dvd/cd drive
