I've been browsing this site for about 3 months now and I've just plucked up the courage to actually register and post.
I'm in my early twenties and in about £8000. This started mainly when I was living at home with parents and was being charged 1/2 my wages for rent even though I was also paying for my my own studies. I moved out on my own about a year ago after the relationship soured out and they threw me out because I refused to pay the extortionate rent any further; I was even asked to put my notice for wanting to leave the house in writing (sad I know). Anyway I got my own place but again had to rely on credit to get necessities such as furniture and rent deposit as I basically left my parents without much savings.
I am desperately trying to clear my debt but I'm struggling and have been doing so for awhile now. I have until a couple months ago been able to make the minimum repayments on everything while eating on about £5 a month. My heatlh began to deteriorate because for that much I couldn't eat healthily and this is when I started to realize that I really needed help.
I started a DMP with an independent company but after three months I lost my job and two weeks ago found another but had to take a 40% pay cut so I haven't made last month's DMP payment. Without paying the management fee, I would be able to scrape by and continue paying my debtors and that is what I plan to do but I am desperately looking for a second job so that I can use that income to pay my debts quicker.
I just think I need some moral support while I go through this otherwise I dont think I would be able to do it on my own.

Lot's of newbies all at once. :rotfl::rotfl:Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Just to get you started you could read this sticky and posting your outgoings etc see if folks on here can cut some of them down by finding cheaper deals.

If the independant DMP company are charging you for their services, which it sounds like they are, ditch them NOW!!!
Contact CCCS or PayPlan who can set you up on a DMP for free.

Hi
Starting point is an SOA here http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html
I strongly suggest you kick the debt company into touch and get an appoint ment with one of the debt charities. They do not charge for DMPs.
At least one OP here who rang her creditors found that they were nice about this.
If you paid a token payment for a couple of months, would that help you get back on track? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Bumping this up so you don't forget to reply. And so it keeps it more prominent.

Well, anyway, it's a little hard for me to relate because I don't survive on credit to live by.
Though, am certain some here will give you moral support. Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return.
