60th birthday gift ideas

One of my good friends is having her 60th birthday in a month's time. She has invited my husband and I out, first to the London Eye, followed by a meal.

Has anyone any good ideas for a suitable present|

I was thinking along the lines of buying her a gift experience. However, we don't have a lot of spare cash, and any ideas on making or personalising gifts would be much appreciated.

She does floral arrangements for weddings etc, so it's no good my giving her flowers. It would be nice to give he something she can keep.

Thank you very much in advance for your ideas.

how about a theatre trip - a lot of places do those 241 vouchers - some cheaky beggars even sell them on ebay - even though they are given away free! - shows like fame...are on them - they change every time - might be worth checking your local theatre to see if they have any spare they are valid for the big west end shows .....we got 2 cracking seats a few years ago for the rat pack for about £35 ... :o

  • Thanks for the idea. How would she go about using them, should i be able to get hold of some vouchers? It would be ideal if she could pick the musical/ play and the date, as that would be easier.

You can buy London Theatre Vouchers from:

I think that W.H. Smith also sell them.

I live in the London area and I think these vouchers would make an excellent present.

you would just need to phone up and quote the code i think and then present the voucher on arrival....

How about an unusual vase or container that she can use for a floral arrangement?

  • i do memory albums, and have done some for friends as presents ... i know people who have bought albums from me and just completed the first page or two, wrap them up and then the people they are for can complete the albums as they would like ...

I like the Memory Albums idea too.

I have done something similar and arranged for a personalised Memory Book - you can tweak as needed but basically a This is your Life type thing. You can ask family and friends to add stories, recipes, photos whatever really. Works well for weddings and babies too.

    Have a great time.
