Currently even stretching everything to the limit I have a surplus every month of 2-300.

So earnings are more than outgoings, don't "need" her contribution...

    My finalish SOA is here

  • You might not 'need' it but the OR will want to see that she is contributing some thing to the household.

Took this from the insolvency wbsite

You will be asked to provide details of your
partner's income, as it is assumed that your
partner will contribute to the household expenses.
You will also be asked to provide details of
payments you get from any other member of your
    household who contributes to household
    expenses.
If you are not willing to provide this information,
you will not be able to claim the full amount of all
    household expenses.

Not sure it helps much though

    Also this

What do I include in my income?
Your income includes all payments you get,
    including income from self-employment, PAYE
employment, benefits (including child benefit and
child tax credit), working tax credit and any
    payments under a pension scheme

I suppose contribution could be subjective.

So say she received £40 CTC, would it be reasonable for her to pay me half toward the household bills?

I know it seems a lot of bother over £40 but am trying to bring my surplus below £250

Yes half would be resonable if £40 is all she gets.
