DVD player hunt

Options
Please help me to decide which dvd player to buy. I have got my eyes set on a Sarlogic multiregion at £29.99 and a sony DVD-NS355 multi region at £62.55, both at Amazon.co.uk and with good reviews. I cannot decide whether to go for the cheap one as I will be buying a DVD recorder in the near future. Both my TV and VHS recorder are Sony, and am wondering whether I should really go for the Sony DVD. It's has to be very basic for me to use. Thanks.

  • My view is go for the cheapest. You often find that a wider range of discs will play on them rather than the branded players.
  • Two Pacific brands on sale at Asda 29.99 or 34.99 are excellent value for money. Not multi-region but I am sure if you post the model number someone will come up with a code to make it multi-region.
  • There is a  dvd player at WHS, that was £99, then £39.99, now £29.99, which plays everything, DivX, Xvid, through to Karaoke, well worth a look. But be quick as the Techies will snap them up. It is called Skyworth (3650) and was discussed a while ago on the grabbit threads.

Got my WHSmith skyworth player yesterday and would definitely recommend it. Its an absolute bargain  ;D
  • Try https://www.richersounds.co.uk DVD players from £14.95 on the Trade Counter page.

Wait until after Xmas and no doubt they will re-intriduce their £19.95 DVD player brand new.

I agree with sallyd, the £29.99 Pacific at Asda is a neat player. Use this link to make it multi region.

  • I bought the Starlogic from Amazon, following a recommendation on another thread.

Very pleased and already multiregion, so no trying to hack it. I would recommend it, but don't forget the Scart cable.
  • Thankyou for all the info guys. Have just ordered the Skyworth DVD player from WHsmith for my sister. It's handy as it has a karaoke function aswell which is what my sister wanted anyway, so 2 gifts rolled into 1 really!!!! Hope she likes it after all this!!
