It's not about how much money you have but being happy with whatever you have, anyone ever seen Mrs Beckham looking happy?

Studies have suggested that there is a maximum income above which happiness is not increased.

Those studying "Hedonics" have given figures such as $40 000 (yes, many of them are American).

So I'd like to ask, how much money do you think would make you happy?

What would this amount represent to you in terms of the life you could lead?

Also, if everyone else was earning this, would you be more happy? Or would you be happier if you knew you were making more than everyone else?

Being self employed my "income" is less black and white. Last year I had a turnover of 55k and a taxable profit of 33k. If everyone around me was earning the same I think I would be perfectly happy.

This may have already been posted (got to go have a homemade zillion calorie dinner in a sec.....it was very cheap too) but the old chestnut ''Money only makes happy people happier'' is very true,

For moi.....a take home of £165k (guessing £250k profit S/E accounts?) would be perfect. Thankyouverymuch.;)

    Abraham Maslow?

Ta! I was thinking Hertzog for some reason. He must have been another one I studied then completely ignored in the workplace.

I don't think money and happiness are connected to each other 100%
Obviously there's tax on that, so probably connected by about 60%.

What amount would make me happy?

Being able to just put anything I wanted in the shopping trolley at the supermarket without worrying about how much it would cost and very carefully adding it into the calculator to make sure I don't go over my budget.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

About $150 million would be nice,a Gulfstream 5 on standby with a crew to take me where I fancied being today ,some nice properties in Europe and the US and some funds to influence politicians.

The more you earn the less bothered about bargain hunting, I guess people think if they work harder to earn more they should be rewarded.

I must have some very mean friends and colleagues.

Favourite shops amongst them are Primark, Lidl, Aldi and TKMaxx.

They rather spend their earnings on their leisure pursuits - cars, bikes and sports.

A couple earning £12k each should find it enough to live on and bring up 1 child.
I don't know where you live but not in my neck of the woods. You would only be able to rent a room in a large shared house (to save on bills), travel to work on the bus and eat on that amount.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
