I have been looking at some of the threads on here and i must say that they are more then helpful, I'm just wondering if anyone can point me right direction, About catalouges / Party-planning?
Am i right in thinking that they all, are self-employed and thats what you have to tell the tax? Or is it with others you are just an employee?
Also how did other's do their's, (Adveritsing?) As i've not lived in my area very long- Just under a year, so i do know many people...!
Can anyone, advise me on the best one's to short-list, With a low start-up cost?
Many thanks

I know for avon & kleeneze you have to register as self-employed, not sure about any others but I would imagine that would be the case for the bulk of companies as it is up to you how much you do in terms of parties etc.
Betterware provide you with the catalogues at no cost & give you a set area to do, but no idea about commission or any other details. Though I will say we had a catalogue delivered on Friday and it looked rubbish - had a flick through at it looks very out-dated!
Kleeneze are quite pricey to start up with, though the books are only changed twice a year and for the cost you are provided with the resealable bags. I tried Kleeneze and due to the number of distrubitors in our area it didn't work for us, as for internet ordering there is a charge of £7.50 after your first month, and also delivery charges depending upon the value of your orders - so we found that we couldn't even break even. However - if your area doesn't have anyone doing it then it could well be worth giving it a go.
I currently do avon and am doing really well with it - if you read the first few pages of the avon hints & tips thread it will give you a good idea about how it works. Again, it depends on your area though, I was given an area of 300 houses where people really love avon - but some people have only been given less than 100 houses and not got many customers from those.
There are lots of other companies which I'm sure other people will fill you in onAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

Hiya!
I work for the Body Shop at Home, and this can be done through parties or catalogue sales too. I have done Avon and Virgin Vie in the past and found them to be good ways to make some extra cash easily and quickly. They all work slightly differently so its all about finding whats best for you and which you will enjoy the most. I have friends who do pampered chef, betterware and anne summers and they all really enjoy it too.
Commission for the Body Shop at Home is 25% with the opportunity to earn higher percentages as sales increase and if you recruit other consultants too. There is no minimum order before you start earning commission, and orders are delivered straight to the host, so its perfect if you dont have lots of time on your hands too!
Theres a good forum: http://www.xorro.co.uk/forums/body-shop-at-home/ which will tell you more about it etc.
Hope this helps!0 -
Hello!
I think with all the party plan type companies you have to become self employed. It's an easy quick phone call to the Tax Office and they're very helpful
I sell Usborne Books and absolutely love it! You can sell them in so many places - schools, toddler groups, fetes, gyms... to name a few. You basically buy a starter kit which this week is only £15 (normally £38) and you get a kit worth £100.
As for living in a new area, these party plan businesses are a great way to meet lots of new people. I've made loads of good friends through doing Usborne (customers and team members). It gets you out and about and discovering what's around.
If you'd like any more info, let me know.

I have signed up to betterware, And i have someone coming around tomorrow morning at 10am. So i will update then, Thanks for all the advice, really helpful!
What i mean in terms of a new area was:-
If i was to do say something like a avon party, What is the best way to ad yourself, Plus i'm kind of out in the sticks, so i would have to depend on local trade in order to get calls. I have a local tesco's mini-store and asking them last night they want £18.50 a week for a small poster, to be placed, One estate agents they will not advertise commerical / Personal business.
So could i use things like my local, weekly paper? Has anyone else tried this and has it worked?
Sorry for the all questions and long thread's, only i dont want to sign up to a company and pay a upfront fee, then cant get my feet off the ground, so to speak!

£18.50 a week for a small poster !!!! No wonder Tescos profits are so high !!!!
I do Usborne Books and I personally have not found paid advertising to work for me. Word of mouth and talking to everyone is the best way to get your name out there.
I do events such as pamper evenings and craft fairs which let people know about me and also lead to more bookings.
You could always try contacting a local school and asking them if they will put leaflets in the childrens book bags.
Good luck with betterware0 -
Yep £18.50 per week, Thats what i said to the worker there! lol
Does anyone know what i would have to expect, Once the woman is here? All she said was that i had to have a char reference? Also do these comapanies do credit checks or CRB'S?
No that i have anything to hide, just wondering if there will be any hold-up's?
As i'm just gearing to start!! lol:money:
A friend said that they do incase they employ one bad apple?
And end up with payments and stuff....!
Can someone just tell me if this is just a fib?
Many thanks allFuture goals:

Princessx87 - With Kleeneze you can have party plan and door to door cataloguing. It's your choice to do one or the other or both. We do both and earn £300-£400 per 4 weeks from it.0
