This is something produced by Rightmove so you can see new properties as they come onto the market (trying to create a rush I guess) - and also shows property price drops.

I'm off to give it a whirl.

With a widget, that people can install on many places (their blog, their myspace, their bebo, etc), it's there constantly in people's face. RM get new names on their mailing list - and agents know that people will be more aware of properties coming onto the market for sale or dropping in price.
You have to register with RM to get/use the widget... bigger, fresh, mailing list. Targetted audience. People with the widget are more "hot buyers" than random site surfers (who are probably the neighbours/owners mostly).
It will force people to look at RM whereas they might have only actually gone to the website once a week or less. So it drives more traffic to the website.
This means RM will retain more agents - and maybe some will sign up when they realise that all they do is upload a house to the RM site and instantly anybody who is looking in that area will have it brought to their attention when they visit their MySpace site to chat to friends.
It is a proactive marketing medium. It's a push technology. It's genius.
Regular users don't know about Property Bee - and that still requires them to go to RM in FF and go through all the houses for sale manually. Probably missing the new ones, never spotting price drops.
The widget's easier for your average person.0 -
No advantage to us saddos who have all the props and the drops in our heads!0

Unfortunately my biggest local estate agent relists all their properties twice a week in order to spam people, so Rightmove's search and recent listing functions are no use to me. I have complained to Rightmove but to no avail.Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0

I can understand that about things like the weather or funny news stories, but can you see your average person caring enough to add the latest flat listings in Rotheram to their myspace page? Maybe property listings is the new superpoke/dancing hamsters and I just didn't get the memo.0 -

Just tried it myself.
Nice idea, but really its more a viral interactive advert rather than something useful for the person who installed it... at least they are trying, so the market must be desperate0 -

I've seen it before - companies who won't allow links on their websites because they think they'll lose all their customers... protectionism within 4 walls at all costs.
They came too late to the party.
Anyway - get off here ... there's PB's maintenance to oversee... I went for my spot of joy browsing earlier and it's not there until Monday0 -
