    Superdrug. Bulk buy,

TBH though, I so rarely ever use stamps- I tend to get everything weighed as its a parcel or its too big/fat to use a normal stamp and not have me sitting at home anxiously worrying it its arrived ok or not! So for me, I'll probably buy a book of 12 in SD and it will last me through till xmas.

You can use the normal stamps on parcels/large letters, so you can still take advantage of the savings by buying normal stamps before the price rise.

If you have a Costco membership, then you can buy them at a 6% discount though I think you have to buy 72 stamps. Hopefully someone can correct or confirm this or I will check next time I am going to Costco.

Buying from Costco works out considerably cheaper, I've been stocking up on stamps over the last few months.

The biggest discount is on the 1st Class Large Letter:
    Royal Mail : 52p
    Costco : 48.725p

Also the 1st Large Letter price will be the biggest rise of all the stamps come 6th April

Here are some figures for 400x 1st Class Large Letter stamps:

    Costco : £194.90
Royal Mail (current price) : £208
Royal Mail (new price of 61p) : £244

So buy now and save nearly £50 !

I posted about this when Superdrug had the same offer on for Valentine's Day.

The savings can be considerable if you buy the right stamps - even using 1st class ones for higher 2nd class postage values.

    My thread from 12th February

OK - WE ARE TALKING POSTAGE STAMPS

    THE DETAILS

NVI ones (NO VALUE INDICATOR) - just has 1st or 2nd on them

Below is a table showing postage rates that are soon to increase

    =======================================================

Royal Mail price increases from April 6th 2009

CURRENT PRICE > NEW PRICE = PRICE INCREASE & (PERCENTAGE %)

    Letter - Max. 240mm (L) x 165mm (W) x 5mm (D)

    Under 100g - 1st £0.36 > £0.39 = +£0.03 (8.33%) ** 2nd £0.27 > £0.30 = +£0.03 (11.1%)

    LARGE Letter - Max. 353mm (L) x 250mm (W) x 25mm (D)

    Under 100g - 1st £0.52 > £0.61 = +£0.09 (17.3%) ** 2nd £0.42 > £0.47 = +£0.05 (11.9%)
    101 - 250g - 1st £0.78 > £0.90 = +£0.12 (15.4%) ** 2nd £0.66 > £0.76 = +£0.10 (15.2%)
    251 - 500g - 1st £1.08 > £1.24 = +£0.16 (14.8%) ** 2nd £0.90 > £1.04 = +£0.14 (15.6%)
    501 - 750g - 1st £1.57 > £1.77 = +£0.20 (12.7%) ** 2nd £1.31 > £1.51 = +£0.20 (15.3%)

    PACKET - OVER 353mm (L) x 250mm (W) x 25mm (D)

    Under 100g - 1st £1.14 > £1.28 = +£0.14 (12.3%) ** 2nd £0.95 > £1.08 = +£0.13 (13.7%)
    101 - 250g - 1st £1.45 > £1.62 = +£0.17 (11.7%) ** 2nd £1.24 > £1.41 = +£0.17 (13.7%)
    251 - 500g - 1st £1.94 > £2.14 = +£0.20 (10.3%) ** 2nd £1.63 > £1.85 = +£0.22 (13.5%)
    501 - 750g - 1st £2.51 > £2.65 = +£0.14 (5.58%) ** 2nd £2.08 > £2.24 = +£0.16 (7.69%)
    751 - 1 kg - 1st £3.08 > £3.25 = +£0.17 (5.52%) ** 2nd £2.49 > £2.70 = +£0.21 (8.43%)

    1kg Maximum for 2nd class

    1001 - 1250g - 1st £4.30 > £4.45 = +£0.15 (3.49%)
    1251 - 1500g - 1st £5.00 > £5.15 = +£0.15 (3.00%)
    1501 - 1750g - 1st £5.70 > £5.85 = +£0.15 (2.63%)
    1751 - 2000g - 1st £6.40 > £6.55 = +£0.15 (2.34%)
    2001 - 4000g - 1st £8.22 > £8.22 = *NO CHANGE*

    Each additional 2000g (or part thereof) - £2.80 > £2.80 = *NO CHANGE*

    =======================================================

OK, just buying ANY of these NVI stamps before that date will save money but getting the right ones from the right place can make this a SUBSTANTIALLY BETTER opportunity.

For example, buying ANY of these 1st or 2nd NVI stamps BEFORE 6th April and USING THEM on or after 6th April offers a greater investment return than any bank or building society can hope to achieve in probably 3 or 4 years

    For example it's a 11.1% return just on a 2nd class stamp

HOWEVER, the stamp that has the greatest value increase is the 1st class LARGE LETTER stamp.

    LARGE Letter - Max. 353mm (L) x 250mm (W) x 25mm (D)
    Under 100g - 1st £0.52 > £0.61 = +£0.09 (17.3%)

    52p increasing to 61p - a massive 17.3% increase.

Currently Large Letter 1st class stamps at SUPERDRUG (ends 14th Feb) have a 5% discount.
Book of 4 for just £1.98
    Makes them 49.5p each

    49.5p increasing to 61p - that's 11.5p a letter - an even more massive 23.23% increase

And 61p is what you will be paying MINIMUM for any 1st class mail that is over 240mm by 165mm in size OR over 5mm thick
    (That's about 6.5 inches by 9.4 inches - a little more than A5 - that's A4 folded in half)

Obviously these NVI stamps can be used towards ANY POSTAGE value that's higher - EVEN for SECOND CLASS on a PARCEL - doesn't matter it says 1st - they will just be worth 61p !!

    A SECOND "SUBSTANTIALLY BETTER" OPPORTUNITY

    Letter - Max. 240mm (L) x 165mm (W) x 5mm (D)
    Under 100g - 1st £0.36 > £0.39 = +£0.03 (8.33%)

Currently these "normal" (UK Basic letter rate) 1st class stamps
can be purchased at MAKRO (expiry unknown) with a 8.84% discount.

MAKRO are doing a "pack" of 60 (that's SIXTY)

You actually get 10 books of 6 for just £19.69 - should cost £21.60

    So that's a saving of £1.91 - approx 8.84% discount - or OVER 3p per stamp

Your 1st class stamp (currently worth 36p) available to buy at just 32.8 pence each.

On 6th April 2009 these stamps will be worth (and cost you to buy at face value from that date) 39p
    Yes! THIRTY NINE PENCE

32.8p to 39p is just over 18.9% profit.

    =======================================================

If you sell on Ebay etc., send Birthday Cards, Anniversary Cards, or will post some of this or even next year's Christmas Cards ......

    ............. BUY YOUR 1st & 2nd NVI STAMPS NOW !!!

EVEN IF you can't buy them at Superdrug or Makro !!!

Costco flog stamps - not sure at what discounted price

I bought a few there the other day.

    1st class - 60 stamps (10 books of 6 stamps currently worth 36p each)
    Total value = £21.60 - available for just £20.29 - saving £1.31 = approximately 6% discount
Makes it 33.82p per stamp - these will be worth / cost 39p from next Monday

1st class LARGE - 40 stamps (10 books of 4 stamps currently worth 52p each)
    Total value = £20.80 - available for just £19.45 - saving £1.35 = approximately 6.5% discount
Makes it 48.625p per stamp - these will be worth / cost 61p from next Monday

    2nd class - 60 stamps (10 books of 6 stamps currently worth 27p each)
    Total value = £16.20 - available for just £15.79 - saving just 41p = approximately 2.5% discount
Makes it 26.32p per stamp - these will be worth / cost 30p from next Monday

Biggest saving / profit available is obviously the LARGE 1st
