Hi
I was made bankrupt by my IVA company in Dec 2008. When i saw the OR in January nothing was mentioned about a nil tax code and i wasn't given an IPA. I haven't heard anything since my interview, so i was surprised when i got my monthly payslip today and i had been given a NTM 1 tax code. Could anyone tell me what i do with tax i should have paid this month and will my tax code revert back to normal next month. Many thanks.

Keep it to one side for a few months. OR won't usually consider Nil tax Code IPA's from January onwards as by time set up they end. Understand that HMCS give listing to HMRC which is why some nil tax codes are still issued.
Make sure your April pay reverts back to a 'normal' tax code, if it doesn't phone your local tax office. Also, make sure they have your current address on file, they should have sent tax code notification to you and a shortened version to your employer at the same time.0 -
this is what I'm concerned about
I've had no contact at old or new address, and my jobs' accounts dept has had no notification about my tax code
accounts lady has been informed that everyone's codes are changing in april, so thats good, but dont want to get stung with a massive tax bill0 -
I am also confused, I went br in dec 08, my boss said early January she was informed of nil tax code, I never received any letter to tell me I was now on nil tax code. I spoke to my examiner in my interview and he said just drop roughly 11 weeks of tax into the OR's office at the end of March.
Since then my file has been transferred to RTLU and i am not sure what to do. Is it the end of March or will it be when the tax year starts that I pay it, that is the 6th April. Why have I not head any letters, not even the RTLU knows about the nil tax code.
I am wondering if my boss has got it wrong and not read the letter properly. What would I do if that was the case.0 -
Do all BR's get a nil tax code or is just for specific types of BR? If I ask now then I won't be surprised if I end up with one and can adjust accordingly..
Many thanks

if you get an IPO/IPA (to pay towards your debts for 3 years) you will probably get a NT tax code FOR THE TAX YEAR YOU WENT/GO BR IN only
