Does my husband's debt come to me?

My husbands working hours have reduced from 30 to 20 to 16 and now it looks like he is going to be laid off.
He has a loan, credit card and overdraft all in his name, the loan was taking on the understanding he was working for 20 hours or over. Well he's been on 16 hours for the past 6 months and we have paid off these debts every month leaving us with £28 per month for food.
Well this can't continue and we think he is to be laid off completely shortly.
He will have to contact his loan supplier, credit card and over draft folk and say that he's now unemployed and unable to pay, does my salary come into it and do I have to pay these debts? My salary just about covers the rent, utilities, car, petrol, food etc and I can't sustain paying these debts too until hubby is re-employed.
Please help ..........

Hi
you guys need to talk to one of the debt charities first thing tomorrow.
One option would be either a charity managed or personally managed debnt management plan (DMP).
This allows you enough to live off and split any remainder between the creditors (rather than paying the creditors and struggling to live).
If the debt is on OH name, they cannot touch you income, but will expect you to contribute at least half the expenditure.
Before you get too far down any line, please come back here for additional advice on CCAs, charges etc, as it may be possible to reduce the impact of these debts. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi RAS
thanks for the advice. My salary funds the whole of the family. My hubby salary was in the end just paying the loan, credit card and overdraft. I've always been the main wage earner and my salary pays 100% of the household contribution. I don't intend on stopping this obviously but I can't pay his loan etc on my income without his to help out.
I will take a look into these charitable organisations.
Many thanks
