ahh 2nd job tax PLEASE HELP!

Hi guys,

I have recently started a second job as my main one could only give me 5 hours a week. Now I am on a 0% contract with the main job and working about 10 hours a month and at my second job working about 80 hours a month. Obviously I somehow want to switch it so that the newer job is my tax free main job as im getting taxed about £100 a month at the mo and being a poor 19 year old saving up for uni I cant afford to lose a single penny. Please help!

xxx

New tax year starts 6th April and you should hopefully get a new tax code then. All the tax you have/will overpay will also be refunded in the form of a cheque by HMRC.

If in doubt i suggest calling up your local tax office after the 09/10 tax year starts. Doing so beforehand is likely to result in them telling you its too late on in the tax year to do anything.

contact the HMRC as asap and say you want the 'second' job to be your main employment etc.... they won't know otherwise.

If you have total income of less than £6035 for this tax year then you will be due a tax refund and should contact your tax office.
