Vote on 3x salary mortgage cap

I have a suspicion that in view of falling house prices and the corresponding falls in banks asset bases and consequent losses when houses are reposessed that the gov't above all wants to stop the decline in house prices. With these dropping prices and public money financing bank losses a mountain of public debt has already built up. The gov't pays lip service to prudent lending but I doubt would go so far as to issue an edict to cap the lending to salary ratio if there was the slightest chance that such lending was 'improving' the house price situation.0

Fair enough Cat, I would be the same in your position.
Dan in one way I think its a good idea to curb the insane debt thats obviously built up over the years with unreg mortgage lending.
But I also see that if its capped I can't buy a nice house in a nice place and live a peaceful life when I leave the forces.
So I defo see your point. If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
If only I could short sell homes I don't own on the promise of buying them back at a future date.
Shame the markets not liquid like shares. One might make a fortune.:cool:0 -

Cat, when you leave the forces will you stay around salisbury? Not consider going somewhere else where you could get more for the money?0 -

I've consider'd many times going back to Nottingham.....but then I go visit my family and realise why I joined the Army.
I'm even considering Joining the Aussy forces (they are crying out for ex Brit forces)
Or moving to Canada.....However I do love england, I've been to so many places in the world.....but have always missed England
I just don't know....I need to find a lass that'll have me thats what I need to do lolIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

For some reason I assumed you had a family! Yep, I know what you mean about England. Anyway, who knows what career -or indeed woman- will await after the forces, flexibilty will be key I guess: no need to panic about houses!0 -

I know but I just have this urge to settle down.....must be my feminine side....I shall go and leave the toilet seat up and watch football and drink beer to force it out of me.If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

Why feminine side? It happens to men too! Unless you are daydreaming of sewing cushion covers I wouldn't be challenging your masculinity.0 -

Damn looks like i best find a different hobby;)
I have hands like shovels so don't think they make needles big enough.....but seriously for the past year its all thats been on my mind....to buy a house to live in and start enjoying being settled.
I'll have a pension at 40 not big bucks but will be enough that I won't need to worry to much about money. Hence why I think I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing....I don't want to be someone who has acheived so much in life to just fail.If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
