What is your view of humanity keep every one in line by stating what they can or can't do?
yes it's called the law. government (if run well) is the best idea humanity has ever come up with. without it there is no such thing as civilisation. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -

Really I call that Dictatorship (telling people what to do without choice).
Laws do not = Civilisation.

still a whole lot better than not having one. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
I know what you are saying and agree in part.
Take a TV, washing machine etc, they are now less than a weeks wage.
Money is an necessary evil and if there is to much of it always find something evil to do:)
That is why I have a bit of a laugh when I see people on here talking about debt and buying things like plasma tv's (they always seem to link debt with plasma:D) you can pick them up at Tesco for 200 quid.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
I should imagine that the pro BTL landlords would love 3x with the increased and guaranteed yields

If I were jewish, Camodian, Iraqi or from any persecuted religion or background I think I would have a strong case to disagee with you.
Governence does not = right or good for the population.
Yes. Ninky is right, some government is better than none, but of course, democracy is the best we've got at chosing government so far in that its less bad than other methods. And when people vote they tend to vote for whats best for them. Very few people are altrutistic. Its the main reason really I am opposed to some of the more idealistic proposals floating about, because freedom of choice is really important to me.0 -

Don't kill, don't steal, don't rape.
I'd quite like to tell people not to do these things. Does that make me a dictator? Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0
