If you want to play the singular 3x card, then BTL will boom as multiple homes will become the norm for couples.

Don't be so ridiculous. Of course it won't.

SOME may. But not everyone wants to saddle their family with 2 mortgages and the hassle of renting out. Tottally ridiculous thing to say!

Theres some sheer desperation on this thread to come up with the stupidest remark!

You really are being so simplistic.

    Mortages are not simplistic.

When inflation was up at 12% LOADS of people lost their jobs too. So they didnt get a 12% rise at all.

If you want to debate, debate, but you really are cherry picking and living in la la land here with the examples you are choosing.

What so you deny in times of high inflation wage inflation went up.

Yes people lost their jobs but wage inflation still went up!

Did all the people who lost their jobs stop existing or did they get employed in jobs later that had actualy gone up in terms of ££'s

Cherry picking data... No thats you.:rotfl:
Are we still going to be hit the hardest in the whole world?

It doesn't regulate 3x income either. But we are talking about changes. It was mentioned earlier BTL mortgages could cease to exist.

LOL that would never happen, how would the gov house everyone, the gov NEEDS a healthy private rented sector

I thought the intresting thing was they employ 2500 people and cost the tax payer £400M per year.

    mmmmm
I have thought of a way of cutting goverment spending by £400M each year.

Yes I was on their (FSA) website earlier, as I wanted to double check from the horse's mouth about this and I came to the conclusion that nothing was going to happen quickly and in the end nothing would be what happens

With all due respect it is not me suggesting average house prices should be set around singular average salaries;)

It isn't going to happen, get out of la la land Graham.

Yes, I heard this today, I think it's October when all the details will finally come out. As with all these sort of things the devil is in the detail. It sounds though, as I suspected, that it will be just another 'package of measures', that make a good headline with zero substance.

The Turner Review says the FSA is considering regulating the buy-to-let market as well as second charge mortgages.

The review says the FSA's paper later this year reviewing mortgage conduct of business rules will look at whether or not extension of its regulatory scope to these sectors is necessary. The Turner Review says: "The paper will consider whether more effective regulation of the mortgage market, through tighter conduct rules or direct product regulation, would require the extension of the FSA's remit to cover second charge mortgages and buy-to-let mortgages."

"There is a difference between someone who buys a buy-to-let property as an extension to their pension fund, who might need more protection against bad advice, and someone who owns 350 buy-to-let properties, who has a limited company in his own name, who might arguably know more about the sector than the FSA itself, and would not need the same degree of protection.

The world is full of stupid people. One only needs to read these forums. They have little financial acumen, little understanding of debt and responsibility (again, one can use the bankruptcy forum as an example) and as such are inclined, through their own docility and ignorance, to take whatever is on offer.

This applies to many areas of life. Fast food. McDonalds and the like really ought not to exist as ongoing, successful enterprises yet they do. Why? Because people take what they can get without asking questions.

I quite agree, the proletariat are so stupid and shouldn't be left to make their own decisions, isn't that what we have a ruling class for...
    I think....
