Hi, thanks for that Lensman, will tell my OH about it and see if he will do it. He used to be a mechanic so he does sort of know about that thing but he is in such a funny mood these past few days/weeks, he can't be bothered with most things and he is pretty grumpy too!

Hi FYP, I don't get the bonus for another week so hopefully they will reply to me before that, I am going to follow up the email now and tell them exactly what the car is going to cost us.

I really don't want to just go ahead and use it but we really have no other choice for keeping the car running. icon9.gif

Sorry to hear about your car troubles and your gas/elec too! It all comes at once doesn't it!

    Donna :D
Sorry your OH is grumpy. It might do him good to take the car out for a good thrashing. But then again, maybe suggesting that "some guy off the internet reckons you should take the car out for a thrash" might be the wrong thing to say.

Startagain posed the question the other day - is it better to go through this single. I am still thinking on it TBH... (I am single btw)

Thanks anyway lensman, appreciate the advice. I have sent an email to the OR again telling them what the car is going to cost in repairs, hopefully I can sway them to let me keep the bonus for it.

Is it better to go through it single?? If I was single, I would not be going through this! had very little debt before I got married and was actually dead set against building up debts! But things happen I guess.

  • mmm, i doubt a new cat will reduce the emissions much, the "italian job" only really works on diesels, if it is one then it has failed on SMOKE, not emissions.

run some injector cleaner (millers or STP) thru it, ensure the air filter is new/clean, run it well and make sure it is hot for the test

on older Tdis you can turn the injector pump down.....or so ive heard...

    Thanks max

it is a petrol 1.6 - my OH has already changed the air filter on the car recently, will suggest he tries putting some cleaners through it but he is taking it back to the garage tomorrow for an emissions test to find out if it is really the cat.

LOL. Someone else who needs the tee shirt. Hope you don't mind, but when I place the order, "things" will not be spelt the way that you spelt it. More like s... h... i... ..you get the gist.

Especially sorry he is grumpy then. It's not a perfect life in any way but it seems to an outsider like he is letting the side down down a bit here. A bit of a thank you doesn't actually hurt at all really.

It's a shame Don, but he will appreciate it and show it in his own way.

the debt is really 50/50 to be honest, he is a good man - it's my fault for not saying "no we can't afford it" when I should have instead of putting it onto a card and then my two gorgeous babies being unexpected did not help but then I would not change them or send them back. But darn, kids are expensive! :D

    Would love a t-shirt! :D

Hmmm I think it might be easier to go through this single but I guess there are pros and cons of both. The grass is always greener.

Yep, the grass is always greener.

Being single means I can lose myself in the xbox when I like (or music or whatever). I can cook a chilli that has 10 chiilis and a whole bulb of garlic in it - and really enjoy it. The quilt never mysteriously ends up on the other side of the bed. And a bog roll lasts a week instead of a day.

It also means that I don't get anyone to go for a walk with on a sunny spring Sunday. No one to go through the deepest, darkest times of my life being irritated and annoyed by (you surely didn't think I was going to say being supported and loved by there did you?). And having chilli that has only 2 chillis and one clove of garlic cooked for me - and enjoy that just as much.

Bog rolls are cheap. The quilt can be nicked back. I still don't know what my answer is to SA's question. All I can say is it is bleedin lonely going through this on your own.

Jim Sweetheart.....you are NOT ALONE !!!!...you`ve got us !! <<<hugs>>>

Personally I like the whole quilt to myself & being able to scream whenever I want to & to just go out for a drive whenever I want to & not have to answer to anyone else!!!! Great but then I`ve been nearly 30 years on the other side so a bit of freedom is VERY WELCOME INDEED!!!!

    Chin up Hun xx

    Edit...btw I was a child bride !!!
