Thanks korky - I get how it works, I just didn't know where to start! Have just looked at the front cover, & there are 4 numbers - are they correct then? Hadn't realised it was the prize puzzle on the front cover, just thought it was a random puzzle! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ok then for my band of helpers, the top row has a 9 on the right of the two adding up to 17 meaning that the one to the left of it has to be an 8 I think

The fourth row down has a 7 in the middle - the bottom of the two adding up to 13

The next to bottom row has a 2 in the third column - middle of the ones adding up to 6 and a 4 in the next to last column - bottom of the two adding up to 13.

Hope that's as clear as mud! Am off for a sandwich and another try at solving now I have a few numbers to start me off. Would still be eternally grateful if anyone else could try though - either if I can't do it, or to check my answer!

looking at your piccie, you can put the single numbers in straight away,

7th row down, (left side) there's a 5 one dotted square so that's a 5
3rd row down, there's a 5 one dotted square (right hand side) so that's a 5

2nd row down 5th one across, that's a one dotted square so again it's 5

your number 17 box now should have an 8 in it .. with the 5 underneath the 8 ..

Ok thanks to korky's tip about the 4 numbers on the front of the book I have an answer - whether it's right or not is something else entirely!

For the top row (which is what they want) I have 325489167 - would be grateful for confirmation before posting it though. If this one's right, I'll be a bit more confident next month (and by the time my sub runs out next year I'll be a real whizz!!!) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

am just working on it cc :rotfl: got the same for top line but am a bit iffy on the last line going down

Following it all on the news myself. Certainly is getting worse!! It started off in one place and is spreading to all the others.
