Does anyone know of or ever used a dvd wholesaler that is any good? I'd be looking for relatively new releases and have about £1000 to spend on stock.//

Don't do it. You don't have the purchasing power to compete at any level, you will NOT make any money doing this. No way you can afford to sell at the same prices as Play or Amazon etc.
You can't run a shop your overheads would be too high, you can't sell on ebay you'd make nothing after fees. Sell through your own website perhaps, but unless you have established traffic you will struggle.
Did I say don't do it?0 -
im still heavily involved in a video rental shop and would just like to point out that even when you go through the wholesalers, the likes of morrisons and tesco can be cheaper0

ill second that - more often that not i would recommend looking for gaps in the market if you do wish to do this and use the likes of morrisons as your suppliers!0 -
The market has collapsed due to the amount of fakes.A dvd i saw for sale for £13 sells for £1 on the counterfeit market and is a perfect copy.0

rentals can still make money provided you mix it with other lines of business. for instance we make a healthy profit on the internet, coffees and a few other office services.
the strange thing with rentals is that when you say you are thinking of closing down the customers start acting like you owe it to the community to stay. however they are the ones who only come in once every 6 months0 -
After the recent collaspe of E-UK who were the biggest wholesaler in this market there are only a few wholesalers left and I can give you the name of one and a contact there if you really want - but like everyone else in this thread I suggest you rethink this idea as this is not a market to be buying into now (or in the future).johncmcloy wrote: »Does anyone know of or ever used a dvd wholesaler that is any good? Bear in mind that most of the wholesalers are already selling these products themselves through Amazon/Play/their own websites so you have little chance of buying from them and then undercutting their price on Amazon/Play.
Recently I was asked to help a company get into this market, set up on Amazon/Play, systems set up, accounts configured, etc. As a fee I was offered a share of the profits. I turned it down as I don't work for nothing!0
