I wanna get some simple home excercise equipment

Right, as in all good new years resolutions I joined a gym, not only did i join, im actually using it quite frequently, however, there are days where i dont get to go due to shifts or due to the kids.
A full workout is about one and a half to two hours if i go for a quick swim and sauna too :-)
As i say though, there's days i dont have that sort of time.
So, what i was thinking, especially with summer coming up, (at some point!!) I thought I would get myself some inexpensive equipment for home.
I dont have a garage and i certainly dont have the room for excercise bikes or benches etc so that leaves me with a few ideas.
First a skipping rope (for outdoors use obviously) which are only about £3 in the likes of argos, though they also do a speed rope at 7.99, cant think why the fact it says nike its faster :-)
Next I was thinking of a yoga / excercise type mat which can be used indoors and outdoors on patio in the summer, again argos do these starting at about a fiver.
After this Id really like one of those abdominal trainers but the ones in argos look either naff / would break after one set of reps, or theyre over 40 quid! so think ill be skipping that!
Weights are the next obvious thing however, 2 things. I have nowhere to store a set of weights and Id like a bench. So I was thinking the best thing if i really want weights is to wait for the car boot sales to start, get a set that are metal or pvc covered and that way if they are left outside with a cheap bench, they can be under a bbq cover or similar.
Oh, another thing, i was thinking i might get one of those gym balls as well which are quite cheap at about 4 quid.
Anyone else got any thoughts / ideas / better value for money?

If you struggle with space for weights etc have you thought about using things for find around the house sacks of potatos boxes all sorts of things free and don't take up any extra space.
Don't bother with an abdominal trainer just get on a yoga matt and think about your technique works much better always a tendancy to pull on those trainer things thus not getting the benifits0 -

I could use free stuff about the house however, it keeps changing and im one of those people that needs a structure to a fitness routine and having specific equipment will make me use it. Weird but true :-)
as for the abs thing i think your right there. i dont pull on the one at the gym but actually, if im doing it at home ill just do without :-)0 -
