When you stop overpaying ?

I realise how frustrating this must be for you, having been in a similar position in the past (though in my case, every time I'd sent a cheque, I'd sent a covering note saying what the payments were to be used for - hence no argument as to what I was expecting them to do).
I know it's closing the stable door and all that, but you might want to think about arranging on-line access to your mortgage account, so you can check what's going on.
Only because I 'police' my account did I spot another error on the part of my mortgage provider recently which resulted in a completely unwarranted £140 penalty payment!
At the end of the day, our mortgage payments and what they go against, are of much more interest to us that the building society administrators - hence why I am now so vigilant.
