clearing out some junk, and think some stuff i never realised i still had might bring in a few quid..
what would be your maximum budget, if buying said items, if seen in local paper, or free ad sites etc:
2nd hand Vax vacuum cleaner - full working order. the model I have retails at approx £80-100, depending on the shop.
wooden framed painting of a river landscape (done by a distant relative, who is long since deceased.. would that boost the price?!)
large (2ft x 3ft approx) metal framed print of a picture- shows some animals going into the Ark. (The artist is Mike Smith, was bought in the 80's, if that helps?).
any guidelines / thoughts welcome!

The way I work these out is find out how much they retail for, then depending on the condition, I half the price. If it's in good condition the just half it, but if there is damage then I reduce it but a small amount again.
This should give you a rough idea. On ebey things tend to go for a lot less though.I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.

I'd look at ebay and see what people are bidding for similar items. eBay bids are generally high, but costs are also high.0

i would only want to pay about 25% of the retail price for second hand unless it was in pristine/barely used condition, then i might go up to half price.0
