Debt and redundancy

Thanks to you all.
I have worked hard all my life and don't want to be in this situation and have never defaulted on anyone but I will take on board all of your replies and try to do my best. Many thanks0 -
Really think you need to come clean with your husband. I know it must be a very daunting thought but keeping these awful worries to yourself isn't going to help your health problems. Please go easy with your redundancy payment because you need that money and can't afford to blow it. Hope you get yourself straightened out. Good luck. Thanks to you all.

Hi new glov,
I'm not very knowledgable about debts, other peeps are so much better at this than me but I know a wee bit about claiming benefits.
You've worked all your life and paid your contributions so it is your entitlement to claim help from the government when you are sick. That's my take on things having been in a vaguely similar situation three years ago. I was medically retired with a lump sum (which I squandered), debts and no idea as to what I was entitled to or how I was going to make ends meet. I just happened to read in a book that I could claim DLA and Incapacity benefit (as it was then). You're not really told what you can do if you end up long term sick or with a chronic condition.
So my one bit of advice, for what it's worth, is find out what you are entitled to and claim.
And please try and get OH on board. You are in this together, it's hard on your own. You may find they they have some sort of inkling anyway and are waiting for you to speak up.
Good luck and keep posting. We are here to help you.

Please speak to one of the debt charities here, http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/debt-help-plan#help not to one of the companies pretending to be free or to a debt company.
You will have to tell OH sooner or later. If you have any joint debts, you need to get your name off the accounts.
And at some time the bank will almost certainly go for a charging order, and the last thing you need is OH getting a letter from the Land regsitry when he does not know you are in debt.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
