Payout time for MPP

Hi there, I've been looking for a policy to cover sickness, disabilty and unemployment ready to start for a remortgage. I tried Martin's suggestion with payment care and everything seemed fine, until I read that cover won't be paid out until 120 days after start date of policy. This shocked me, as it seems a long time and not a very good deal.

Has anyone else come across this or is this the normal for these policies. Any advice greatly appreciated.

    I think it's pretty standard.

The idea behind it is that if you've heard rumours and only take the policy out because of them (almost after the horse has bolted really) then you won't be able to claim.
Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

You can get it to start sooner, try money supermarket, you can search through the results by how long you have help the cover to be coverd. But you will pay through the nose for it. I had £900 covered through Post Office and they covered from 30 days but it cost £41 per month.

On the other side, once you have been with a company like that for 6 months, you can change to another cheaper policy and they wavier the waiting period. It can be something like 6 months claim free or something like that. But as its an ongoing policy you can change when you like.
