Can i ask what proof did/does the csa ask for when a child turns 16 and is due to leave school? Do you have to prove to them or child benefit that the child is actually staying on?
thanks in advance

The CSA usually only check if child benefit is payment, and refer you to the child benefit number if you think child benefit is being paid fraudulently.0

Thanks for this, a bit more info if anyone can shed any light. We know that son has left school where pwc says he was attending 6th form highly unlikely he has gone on anywhere else, rang cb to query this but as dont know the home address of pwc could only give vague details which they will look into as a fraudulent claim. Any advice as to how to make csa take notice of this situation.
thanks in advance.0 -
You certainly need to make the csa aware of the possibility he has left - well you would have to put it as a certainity. If you state you are certain he has left and are later proved correct, you are then entitled to a refund of overpayments - whether you get them is another issue, but at least with being assertive you stand a chance of getting the csa to admit their own errors in delays etc.0

It's not commiting fraud with the CSA, but with Child Benefit. Ultimatley the decision whether the QC is still in education is determined if Child Benefit is in payment. If it is still in payment, then the CSA cannot do anything. Its a hard situation because its proving that the QC is not in school. If his son left school, is he working / on JSA? If he's moved onto JSA thats easy to verify. If you know the school can you ring them and ask? Not sure if they will give you the info, but possibly worth a shot?0

oh spoke to school today who confirmed son has left and will put this in writing, does not mean he has not gone elsewhere I know but that is very unlikely.
We will forward copies of letter from school to cb and csa with letter asking for this to be investigated.
We don't see son, not through choice, and this is why we are unsure of what he is doing.
thanks for your help.0
