We try and have fish twice a week and I have calculated the costs it is a bit too much. I have now bought a Rod and am gathering worms to go fishing, question is where to go? Ideas on best places to fish most appreciated.

The evironmental agency has a list of some of the venues on its website and it even tells you if the fishing is free0

Don't go fishing without a rod licence!"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

This beats the object of having cheap fish, so, I pay for the license, drive to the pond, invite fish for dinner, catch it somehow, then save what? Are you saying it is a crap idea?

At first, I thought you meant as a hobby, get out and about sort of thing
But no you want to eat the stuff
I really think you may be better off doing the hunter gatherer thing at the fishmongers rather than the fishing venues round London, even though the salmon has been making a come back in the Thames0 -
My first thought was to start catching pigeons in Piccadilly but was told that bacteria will kill me instead. I am sure fish should be ok, don't mean to catch it at Hampton Court, a bit further away.

Should you find the urge to fish in the UK the coarse fishing season starts on June 16th and the cost of a licence is £26.00 for a year.
Reading your posts in this thread that you would like to eat the fish you would need to visit a trout lake in order to catch and eat. You still need a fishing licence for that and a days fishing at a trout lake would cost you £20 ish plus the price of the fish you catch.
The fine for fishing with no licence ie £2000 the fine for removing fish from a river is up to £5000.
Reading your previous posts in other threads you seem pretty clever person so I am taking this thread to be a bit of a wind up chasing pigeons etc
If not and you intend to remove fish from rivers I hope you get caught and fined £5000
