Just had a leaflet put through my door for VirginMedia, it is offering Digital TV Broadband and Phone for £14 per month. Is it right, £14 this is very cheap and just wondering if it's any good, i have Sky TV and my friend has BT, this is cheaper than both of these.
Virginmedia.com/bundle
is the web address, can anyone tell me if it is any good?
Thanks

Be careful when ordering over the phone, check the small print and double check any paperwork that comes through because I ordered, for my mum, a phoneline with anytime calls and 10MB broadband (should be 2MB til May then existing customers will be upgraded but new customers get it now) for £23.95 a month but when the paperwork came through there was £30 installation fee and this price for broadband would go up another £9 after 3 months which was not mentioned when I placed the order. I phoned up to cancel so they waived the installation fee and agreed a price of £24.95 a month for 12 months but if you sign up for ebilling then you save a £1 a month anyway.Always looking for a bargain and to help0

The deals on the virgin media site say that the £14/month deal is reliant on you paying £11/month line rental - effectively making it £25/month...

It is a good deal and the broadband is mostly pretty good but just be aware that if anything goes wrong their customer service is famously terrible
Really truly. google it if you don't believe me. 0 -
Yep, beware of Virgin Media customer services, it is truly awful - overcharging and failing to upgrade or downgrade services is the worse problem.
On the flip side, when VM works, it's much better than Sky.
Also be careful when posting or seeking help about VM services online. I posted on the forums on Digital Spy about a problem with VM and alleged VM employees will attempt to slam you down. I'm not sure if they are actually paid to do this, or people are sad enough to support their company for free, or maybe it's guerilla tactics by the competition.0 -
I think any Customer Service department has the potential to be "bad", especially with some of the cantankerous fools on MSE

I have been with NTL for a long time and when virgin took them over there was a marked change for the better. My billing and general dealings with them have been excellent and I have down and upgraded my package several times in the last few months.
My most recent contact was to check that I wa sin fact tied to a contract with them - I had a Sky chap trying to sell their service to me - they confirmed my setup and despite not having to do anything they actually offered me a better deal resulting in Mr Sky leaving with his tail between his legs.
Virgin are just about to introduce a new free offline data storage solution to protect people from losing music/photos etc.
I'm very pleased with them (and don't work for them or have any affiliation with them before anyone suggests it)0 -
When VM lost Sky1 I managed to get on the loyalty package at £20, thats Basic TV, Line rental, Free calls weekends and after 7 (?) and 2mb (soon to be 10mb)
I certainly wont be going anywhere in a hurry. VM have been 1st class since day one, had a couple of tech glitches and they have been sorted out pretty much straight away, only problem I had was booking an engineer once they cancelled it as they htought it was a local fault and mine was a different fault to the local one.0 -
1st post!
my flatmate pays for telephone, line rental and the very basic tv package, he has had the same contract for over 12 months now, is there anyway where we can upgrade to this £24 package including the broadband, i think he's paying around that much now without broadband

Yes you can get the £25 bundle as you would be taking a new service (broadband):
Offer: Available to new customers or existing customers taking an additional cable service (subject to status and credit checks). You must take all services included in this package for at least 12 months. If you change any part of this package, standard prices apply. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.

Their broadband service is an absolutely no no for heavy downloaders. They are probably the worst in the UK for traffic management, throttling your speed by up to 80% for up to 12 hours a day. Unlimited, yes, unrestricted, no! On the other hand, I was with them for many years (before traffic management) and the reliability was second to none.0

If you are out of contract with them, call them up and ask to disconnect, mention BT and Sky, they will soon come up with a deal.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
