Debts and Redundancy

I don't know where to start or where to turn.
I have approx 14,000 pounds worth of debt and last Friday the 6th march I was made redundant, without notice or pay.

We have had the necessary forms to claim redundancy and notice.
I have applied for Job seekers allowance.
I have to day contacted cccs, the debts where manageable when earning.

Hubby works but it is enough to run the house and not to clear the debts to.

We did not see the closure of work or I would have been more prepared.

Is there anything else I can do ?.

    Hi

Can you check all the debts and find out if you have PPI on any of them? If so claim. If it does not pay out, then reclaim the cost of the PPI.

Any late payment charges on any of the debts? Reclaim them

Have you checked whether you can get Working tax credit or council tax benefit?

I would be inclined to make sure you have no DDs you need to cancel.

Read the boost your income thread.

Go round the house and turn off everything except the fridge and freezer and get seriously manic about turning everything off all the time.

Check you meters and the most recent bills. Are you in for a nasty shock or can you get some money back?

Check the storecupboard, fridge and freezer and do a store cupboard challenge, which might tide you over until the money comes in.

Read the boost your income thread above and start doing clicks and surveys.

    Ok

There is a good chance the cataogues will be unenfocreable in the courts. Are the credit cards mainstream or secondaries like cap1?

    Will post a CCA letter.

Amongst other things, if you know which aco!!!!s are enforceable, you know where to put your efforts.

I do not acknowledge any debt to your company.

With reference to the above, we would be grateful if you would send us a copy of this credit agreement, statement of account and notice of assignment.

We understand that under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (Sections 77−79), we are entitled to receive a copy of our credit agreement on request. We enclose a payment of £1.00 which represents the fee payable under the Consumer Credit Act.

We understand a copy of our credit agreement should be supplied within 12 working days.

We understand that under the Consumer Credit Act creditors are unable to enforce an agreement if they fail to comply with a request for a copy of the agreement under these sections of the Act.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours faithfully
