LP's Debt Diary 2009

Hello guys!
Well, having very nearly cleared my debt, I did something silly and forgot about my old overdraft! eeekkk!!!
I now have £500-ish that I have to clear!
I have no real worries as such as I can pay it back slowly, but I just feel stupid having come so close once before to being debt free and then ruining it!
So... I'm just going to try to pay off as much as possible, as quick as possible, until it's all gone!
Of that £500, my brother owes me £250 (taken from this overdraft) which cuts it in half... then it's a case of chunking away at the rest!
I hope to have a vast majority of it by the end of the month  but we'll see how it goes I guess!
Might try and sell some things on e-bay or something...
Here I go again!
I'll pop up the real amount when I next go to the cash point and take a look... (think it's about £525.00)

When I joined the site nearly 2 years ago I was almost £6k in debt!
I love MSE!!!
With hard work and an increase in salary I got rid of my debts nearly completely.
The last thing left for me to do was to close my old account which had a £250 free buffer.
What did I forget to do? You guessed it, I forgot to close that account.
6 months on and the debt has increased to £550.
This is because I am charged every month an account fee of £12 per month to ‘manage’ my accounts. It’s nothing more than a money spinner for Barclays as the account has, in effect, been inactive for about a year!
Anyhooo.... as the ‘free’ £250 buffer went over £250 (with the monthly charges) they began charging me £30 every time I went further overdrawn.
Hence, now, I owe them £550.
I’m not too worried, mind you, as my brother owes me £250 and I can afford to pick away at the debt until it’s gone.
My hope is that I will be able to get the buffer back under £250 by the end of the month and then try to get rid of the rest ASAP.
How you all going?

Hiya! Did the bank not send you letters stating you were being charged for going over your overdraft? If not perhaps you could reclaim the other £250 and no longer be a wannabe?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

No, they didn't.... I guess I could write to them and see what happens..
although I did reclaim around £900 from them in unfiar charges nearly 2 years ago, so I doubt they'd be happy to hand more money back to me!0 -
