Nationwide online mortgage switcher - service unavailable

Just wondered if anyone has had any success in using the Nationwide online mortgage switcher (www.nationwide.co.uk/switcher) recently?

Whenever I try, it gives me an error message saying "service unavailable". I assumed that it was just a temporary technical glitch, but it's been like the for a few days now. Is the online service permanently unavailable?

Still no joy - perhaps they no longer provide the online option?

Are you trying to switch onto their SVR? Few different threads on here saying they no longer allow that.
Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

How odd, it still doesn't work for me - can't get past the log-in screen. It doesn't say my log-in details are wrong, though, just that the service is unavailable.

Yes, I'm looking to see whether I can switch to the SVR - there was a thread on here in which some posters suggested that you can switch to the SVR without paying ERCs if you're within the last 90 days of your fixed rate deal, but only through the online tool - apparently on the phone they tell you that you can't do it.

To be honest, I'm sceptical about this anyway - if I've signed up for 24 months at a fixed rate, why on earth would they let me get out of that after 22 months without penalty? Seems unlikely to me.

Oh yes, I saw that too now you mention it. Maybe it was an accidental loophole that they've now closed.
