Help with buying voile curtains please!

i wanted to buy some net curtains but hate them , so i have found some plain white curtains in voile, i have never had voile before and am stuck now on what gather i should have, i know i wont be able to block out light but i want to dampen it down a bit, should i go for the 2.5x gather or would i be better with 3x, i dont want it to look too flouncy either!! i know that voile is thin so maybe 3x would look ok? any help gratefully received

any opinions on what is best? thanks :)

I bought some voile 'net' curtains that had a silver design through them. Mine was a double gathering, and yes you can see through them at night. During the day they are fine though and the fluidity of the drop (once sized) beats nets anyday.
