A Brother Colour - Printer, Scanner, Copier and Fax .... also pic-bridge support - for approx £20
It's been sold by IJTDIRECT, they are giving it away for "free" (their words not mine), when you buy three sets of ink cartridges .... when you use the discount code it costs £55.71 (Delivered). Effectivly you can buy the ink (clone's from other companies) for around £12 a set, so I view it as costing me only £20 (delivered) !!
I bought mine, and it was delivered Friday, a great unit, print quality is great, easy to use, neat, fantastic range of features, has a "fax-switch" built in (to route fax/non-fax calls), uses 4 colour cartridges - so should be cheep to run too - only moan would be the fragile paper-feed tray ....
A fantastic deal .... hope it helps someone out there ....

Although Delivery is £2.950 -
I have this printer and would say think twice!!
I don't use it much so it is not plugged in normally. Every time I switch it on it goes through a cleaning cycle and uses up ink. (this appears to be a "function" of the machine as it was used twice in one day and performed the cleaning both times).
The first set of inks lasted me a month before I ran out of the cyan and yellow ink. "Ok," I thought "I'll just print stuff out in greyscale". BUT if you have run out of ANY of the inks you can't use the rest - so no greyscale for me then. I had to order some inks and wait for them to arrive before I could print.
Just the most frustrating printer I have had. I would not buy it again!

It's only a game

I bought the printer upon recomendation from my dad, he's had one for ages with no issues, also have a client who uses one and "sings its praises" ! - they've both had afew brands and have said the Brother is better than average ....
The issues you describe regarding ink changing might be a fault on your unit ....
To me it seams good (features etc), although I do think the paper-tray is rather cheep, and my client did mention the random auto/cleaning routine it goes through ....0 -
I thought all inkjets did this anyway - my Brother DCP115C has a huge cotton wool store at the back that the "cleaned" ink is drawn into. I had an Epson before which had a similar system. The catch with the Epson was the little chip on the ink cartridges said to change the ink long before it had physically run out. The Brother at least tells you to swap when it really runs out!
I would caution against using non-original ink though. I had the printer 18 months with light home use (powered on continuously though so it could self-clean). Using original ink it was fine but within 6 months of swapping to a compatible cartridge the cyan and magenta heads have become totally clogged and now I need to replace the printer (have had the heads out and soaking in alcohol all night and unable to de-clog them).
I would easily buy another Brother printer but would stick to manufacturers ink. From what I read the original ink has some sort of anti-clog stuff in it that the compatibles don't. I don't see why the compatibles should be a problem (after all, the people who make them are doing themselves out of business!?). Who knows, it might have happened with original ink anyway.
But whatever, the printer was pretty good and cost me very little over the time I had it.0 -
Is the title not misleading? I was expecting to find a printer for £20.0
