Best place to buy "nearly new" cars?

We are thinking of getting a newer car this coming month - but our local dealers dont seem to have a problem selling even the brand new ones at the moment:confused:

Any ideas please where to get a nearly new VW Golf or Toyota Auris?

You'll probably be able to find a local car market or car auction - you'll probably have to take a lot of time out of the day to visit them and get a feel for it but there will no doubt be some fairly reasonably aged cars I would imagine.

Just make sure you set a budget and don't get sucked into a bidding war!

Thanks, though I cant see that a year old car would be in the auction unless there was something wrong with it though? Wouldnt it just be sold by the main dealers?

It could well be an ex hire car,or a finance company snatchback,or even a company lease car that is surplus to requirements (at the mo. I guess there's more of these about).Tread carefully,though-I believe that most of the above are sold off in trade only auctions.

Yes,its tempting to get a bargain but if you arent a mechanic you are buying blind arent you.

Have to say for all the desperate situation we hear about in the car trade nowdays on Sunday the main dealers were apparently doing very good business.

    Thanks guys.

There is actually a new car auction sales room opened only about a mile from me. I shall have to mooch down and watch the goings on.
