Store card - help -

I know im being stupid but I'm terrified of contacting the store card company and now the debt collection agency but I need to because
  1. the card is registered at my mums address and if worst ever came to it i dont want baliffs at my mums door, she is not well for a start and it obviously isnt fair to her. Can i change the address over the phone?
  2. I need to phone up to arrange setting up a standing order/direct debit if i can - the shop tells me i cant but this seems ridiculous
  3. i also need to pay something cos ive not been making the minimums
I can pay them £20 on the 20th (next fri) but I'm too scared to phone them until then to sort out the other stuff. Someone please inspire me to stop being a giant wuss!
Also does anyone know about setting up a direct debit and why i wouldnt be able to?

I've definately learnt my lesson re store cards, the shirt i bought was the only item of clothing i've bought in 3 years, it was £20 in store and i now owe £143 for it!!!

    That's a really expensive shirt.

To set up a direct debit you need to get a form from the store card company and set it up with your bank - wouldnt it be easier to pay this off in one go?

the circumstances aren't very clear... maybe you could say a little more of the back ground.
    but
write to them if you are reluctant to speak on the phone
do NOT set up a DD..they might then take the full amount nor make a payment by direct debit for the same reason.
instead set up a standing order..then you're in charge
  • What store card is it if its burton topshop dorothy perkins or the rest of the arcadia group you can pay what you like of in the store you just need your card or bill and the cash.

Then contact them after you have paid and change address etc and sort a payment plan with them .

Theres no way I can pay it off in one go Horace I dont have any spare cash at all £20 is the very most I can give them on the 20th.

clapton thanks for that advice i didnt realise they would be able to use this to take more than i offerred and if they did then i wont be eating next month! I'm not sure what you mean by circumstances but it's registered at my mums address as i was of no fixed address at the time (id just been kicked out of my house and my mum doesnt have spare space) it's not my only debt and as the bills went to my mums and i got further in debt it was the easiest to ignore cos i wasnt actually confronted with them all the time.

foundabargain - its a new look store card, i can pay it store actually - i dont have the card anymore (i got rid of it with my credit card) but i do have the bill and payment slip, im really silly for never thinking of it before. I've spent so long hiding from these debts they've taken on the power to remove all rational thoughts.
    thanks x
