Just came back from wedding fair.

I was also at the Dev Arms wedding fair - it was a really good one I thought - just a nice size!!! Am having my wedding recpetion at the Dev Arms in July so it was great to see it all set up so lovely. I went to the Yorkshire Bridal show a few weeks ago and didnt rate it to be honest, it was too big an impersonal.
I even got to see my dress all set up on the Ava Rose mannequin (am having the ivory one with the roses down to one side) so that was a bonus too!
The cakes really were fab.
Glad you had a good day x
Is that the Ian Stewart one just as you entered Ava's exhibit? I saw it in one of the bridal magazines and thought how wonderful it looked.
It was VERY busy today. We also had a look at Denton Hall, but I must say, the exhibits at DA, especially those cakes, were fabulous.0 -
Yes that one! Thought the helicopter looked great as well but the budget will not stretch to that lolTotal for 2009: L'Oreal Lip Duo, Diary, Motability Guide
Thanks to everyone who post comps - you are all :cool2:0 -

I think black is becoming more prevalent I agree. And I think bridesmaids will be greatful to wear something in black as it can be worn again.
Horace, good luck with event planning. I wouldn't know where to start! I can't believe they charged you to go in. Is that normal?
The skirt is black organza, sewn into ruches at certain points where the roses go, which I think I'll leave on because they make the dress, to match I have ivory roses in my bouquet so it's a theme. Funnily enough I'm buying my dress from Barnsley, at least my OH won't be able to find out what it's like, I just can't wait to finish paying for it, in about two weeks, it will be finally be mine!!! Then I just need to perhaps have it altered a month or so before. I can't wait, I haven't felt this excited since I was a kid!!!:A :

I went to the NEC yesterday too and was very dissapointed.
Nothing really different, all very run of the mill and samey.
Hardly any coloured wedding dresses, just a handful and nothing in midnight blue which is what I'm after (despite several designers having them in their collections currently).
Won't be bothering again... though did learn an interesting tip about why not to put wedding cake in the fridge lol.0 -

The NEC always charge - if you book in advance it will cost £10 but the one they have later in the year is spread over several halls, this was in one of the smaller halls and certainly not worth it. They always charge for parking unless its a trade show then they don't appear too but I never drive there as it is cheaper for me to take the train only £4.50 return (one way is £4).
I prefer the smaller more local fairs as they don't charge an entry fee.
Black is in, sage green is in and for some reason smoke grey (shudder as it looks yeuk), the styles seem to be more vintage too.0 -

I noticed that too - even the bridesmaids dresses were samey, actually I was keeping an eye out for something in midnight blue for you. I didnt watch any catwalk shows and as there were no samples of cake in the offing then didnt pay much attention to the cakes at all - why can't you put a wedding cake in the fridge? will it sweat?0 -

Oh bless you for thinking of me!
Aparently sponge cakes go hard and iced fruit cake goes wet. Its probably cakemaking 101 but it never occured to me

hey, nothing wrong with 'out there' wedding outfits!
I will be wearing a leather corset with big buckles on the sides, tight leggings with a velvet skirt with a very high split up the side with New Rock boots. And velvet arm warmer style gloves. All in black of course. Some people feel the rain...others just get wet0
