Amazon refund

I don't know whether (a) this is the right place for this and (b) everyone knows it already, but here goes...

I recently bought an ipod (black 30gb) on Amazon.co.uk for about £200. A couple of weeks later I noticed that it had gone down in price by about £10 or so, so I sent off a speculative email noting the fact, and waffling on about how i was disappointed that it had been reduced so soon after i bought it etc etc, not expecting anything to come of it.

Anyway, I got an email back yesterday saying that the difference between the two prices had been credited back to my credit card. Moreover, it seems that they have a policy of always paying out if the price changes within 30 days, if you email them about it, so this could be something worth checking up on, especially if you buy technological-type things, which will often fall in price over time.

  • Do you think I should email them about the item I bought last week that has now gone UP 80%?

How was your post helpful/useful? If you really want to do that then go ahead (how many of us actually do this?). The OP was only trying to point out that it maybe be possible to get goods that you have already purchased for a bit cheaper. Not all, if many companies operate this kind of policy.

They done this for ages. Two years ago I bought an expensive DivX player and the following week it went down a tenner. I emailed them and within a few days they refunded me a tenner. :) Always worth asking no matter what, what you got to loose?
  • I recently bought a wireless router through them and a week later found pc world of all places were throwing in a wireless card as well for the same price! Is it worth me bothering to email them??

only if you want to return it, they only match against their own prices not other companies

  • I had a DVD on my wish list and it went up in price by £5 before I managed to order it, e-mailed them and they said they would give it me at the original price if I bought it.

For Christmas a bought my OH a few things from Amazon. One was a new memory card for his phone so that he could store more music on it. He realised stright away that it wouldn't work :( so we sent it back.

The money less the VAT was returned to my card.

Should I have got the VAT back too?

I've tried e-mailing amazon but you can't just reply to their and there doesn't seem to be a link that I can use to contact them on the website.

    What do I do?
