NO AVG free is rubbish the firewal;l is full of holes
You don't need the firewall. use zone alarm if you need that.
AVG free is very very good.
Remember that you will also need anti spyware (try spybod and ad-aware) and anti malware - try Malwarebytes anti malware.
I use all of these and they do a great job.To infinity and beyond!0 -
Is Norton no good then? That's what I've got.0

I switched from AVG to Avira on the advice of the Techies board after AVG missed a trojan. I also now have Malwarebytes which is ace, and CCleaner for getting rid of rubbish. All these are widely recognised as excellent (free) software.
If you think you have an infection I would read the very helpful stickies on the Techies board, then post up if you are still worried. They really are a very knowledgeable, patient and helpful bunch.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Generally considered to be very badly written (ex hubby a spod!), plus anything that is closely associated with Microsoft is open to deliberate attack. So don't use Internet Explorer, the hackers love it.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

I use AVG. Its the only anti v that hasnt given me any probs, i d recommend it.0
-
I have always used AVG until I started reading in the techie thread where most of the folks know what they are talking about have said many times that AVG is rubbish. I uninstalled AVG and installed Avira, and straight off it found 15 infected files that AVG had obviously been missing every day when I scanned my computer!
So AVG gets a big thumbs down now from me.0 -
