Thank you. Only problem is I don't have cornflour! Still I suppose if I buy a box it will be there for future use so will be money saving and healthier in the long run.
Thank you for all the help :-)Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Not sure about the calorific content but I make my cheese sauce with white wine so no butter in it and only 1 dessert spoon of flour? It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0

Cornflour is one of the things in my storecupboard that I panic if I run out of it.If you buy a box I don't think it will be a waste of money once you get into the way of using it to thicken things
Try to buy value or smartprice as I have never noticed any difference between them and the branded cornflours.

I second the recommendation for cornflour. It's wonderful stuff - just don't touch it cos it is squeaky on the fingers and will make you cringe.
For a more healthy recipe, BBC Good Food did a series where they did "makeovers" on popular recipes. I recall lasagna was one: try looking on the website for what they suggested.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -

I've had a look and can't see anything on that website, but they do have about a million recipes for Lasagne :rotfl: maybe we could start a food makeover thread on here?
Great website though, will be having a look on there for other things to make and freezeSometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
I am currently following the Slimming World diet and when I make lasagna I use lean mince - loads of veg and instead of white sauce I grate low fat cheese over the top 5 mins before end of cooking. I think low fat cheese tastes awful raw but is fine when melted. xcxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

Definitely loads of xtra veg in meat sauce (carrots, courgettes, mushrooms, onions etc) and when you've browned off the mince, drain it through a sieve and pour boling water over to remove any fat.0

I add a layer of spinach to it, really tasty!0

The only problem with using quorn is the packet says not to refreeze which is the only reason I don't bulk cook with it.:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0
