Nil tax code

I have just received a letter today from IR advising that they have applied a back to week one tax code for the rest of the financial year about 3 weeks how rediculess

    From now until 06th April my emp will not stop tax, they applied nil tax code to my OH about 6 weeks ago I am still waiting for someone to contact me as to where to pay this

    You will hear from Moon Beever shortly, but in the meantime you need to make sure you put the tax aside to enable you to pay it when they ask for it.

    What was your tax code before and how many sources of income do you have?

    hello I have save 5 weeks out of the 6 tax as my OH only worked 2 days last week and would not have earnt enough to pay tax or NI, our tax code was 603L and we both work full time

    Nil tax code means that your emp will not deduct tax and its your responsibility to pay this to OR or who they have instructed to collect this, the nil tax code is the financial year that you went BR and all the tax yo have paid to IR they will pass onto OR

    If you go BR before the end of the first week in April (don't know exact date this year) you will not get an IPA so don't need to worry. Your wife however will probably get one as she won't be going BR before then.

    I went BR on the last day of the last tax year so that I could avoid it.
