Have just had the most infuriating experinece with smiths/smyths aerials. On phoning sky was referred to them as local supplier/fitter in belfast. Organised a engineer from said company to com round and install the dish he didnt show surprise surprise even though on said day i phoned his company and the engineer personally and he said he would be there in a couple of hours. This has been a huge inconvenience for me i know it happens all the time but i took a whole day off work (incredibly hard to get these days, as we are worked to the bone). so rant over just want to ask a few questions.
Does smyths let people down regularly or is this a friday 13th thing
how should i approach them, i want sky installed but dont want to take any more days off work and they dont appear to work saturdays (most annoying)

Are you stuck with them? I would either ring SKY and complain or get someone else such as Finlay Communications 91455136 who afaik work Saturdays

Finlays installed our sky about 2 months ago - they werent great either. A fella came out the first day and said he couldnt get a signal with our dish at the front of the house. I told him to put it at the back but he said that wouldnt work - without trying. He said he would send a special team to put it on the roof. Eventually 2 weeks later the special team came out and said there was no way they were going on the roof and instead just went round the back and got a signal no bother. The fella the first day just wanted to go home. The reason it took 2 weeks between the first fella and actually getting it done is because they cancelled me a few times in between.
To the OP, I got the work done on a Saturday by Finlays. I would ask them to come on a Sat and if they say no then go back to sky and ask to be changed to a different supplier.0 -
sorry for taking so long to get back to fill you all in. After missing the appointment on friday an engineer (different one) called me on sunday, iwas not at the house in fact i was 30 miles away but he was prepared to wait and when i arrived to let him in 15 mins is all it took. Apparently they out source some of their work i guess with both companies it depends which engineer you are assigned some cant be bothered and others like the one that came out on sunday for me are professional, curtious and good at their job, the only thing that baffles me is why are companies continuing to employ the baffoons who must let customers, fellow colleagues and the company down regularly.0
