Bailliffs Letters

I have been contacted by Rossendales for previous council tax arrears.
I paid rossendales in full.
But am now being conacted by another debt collection company called Dukes.
I have phone dukes and they have said that they cannot stop action until their client (the council) instructs them too.
I then phoned the council, they said that yes the bill had been paid and that they would contact dukes and tell them to stop conatcting me. They said that it was taken off dukes and given to rossendales months ago. They said that it was all sorted and they would contact dukes.
I have now recieve this morning a letter from dukes saying that they will be visiting my property in an evening to collect and remove goods and that inlcude goods from outside my house (ie my car).
As the council is only open mon - fri I know have to wait to contact them. But what if dukes keep hassling me for a debt that has been fully paid to rossendales and that the council have taken the case from months ago so they shouldnt even be chasing me!
What should I do? As obviously the council havent told dukes when they said they would? How can i be sure this time?

Hi
Has the bailiff been into you hnouse or done a levy on your car previously? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Rossendales have been to the flat but I would let them past the security door, the flat has high fencing and security gates and video entry so have ignored them when they were here but replied to the letters they left.
As for dukes it has been stamped postal letters I have receieved. But they shoudlnt even be contacting me according to the council.0 -
Good
Move the car immediately and make sure it stays somewhere where Duke's cannot find it until you sort this out on Monday.
Do not let Dukes into the flat under any circumstances (they have not right to enter other than peaceably) and that means lock all windows and doors.
Can you check on your local council web-site and locate your ward councillor. Get hold of them at home this weekend. They will boolock the council officers for you.
Do you have any e-mails or letters from the council re the payment to Roseendales?
if so send a copy by e-mail and mail to Dukes and keep a copy to show the bailiff if he turns up.
Also will post Herbie21's web-site up in a mo.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Got to gop but read this and pm Herbie21.
look here for information, http://www.bailiffadviceonline.co.uk/
You can also pm the details to Herbie21, including the bailiffs names and all the details. Her inbox gets full so keep trying. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Thanks, will move car well away from property and will keep everywhere on lock down! Have contact letters from Rossendales and papment confirmation from them so will take a copy and send to Dukes.
Didnt think about contacting ward councillor - will find detail and do that.
If Dukes do take my car what can I do - as the debt has been paid, surely they cant keep it and will have to return it to me or will they charge me?0 -
At the end of this little sage, i expect you to get a full apology from Dukes and the local council and perhaps some recompense for the distress caused.
They cannot keep you car if you have no debt.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
