With this calculator when putting in the term do you enter it in months?
    MFWB
    Mortgage when started: £232,000
    Current mortgage Sept 2024: £232,000
    Mortgage free day: Sept 2029

    Saving: £12k 2025
  • On the Egg calculator the term is in years.

Halloweenqueen you inspired me to finally buy some Premium Bonds!! Only bought £100 though as I want to pay as much as possible towards the mortgage. Just waiting for the forms to come through etc now.

I have used the one above for ages now and out of a load I haved used its great. best thing I find is as well as telling you how much you can save by overpaying it also gives you a full amortisation table letting you know how much capital and interest you pay each month - only by seeing in print how much interest you pay each month, does it spur you on to try and make overpayments!! Its a US site and in dollars but that doesn't matter. Just subsitute the dollar sign for a pound sign

    Wow,

I'm new to this site and once our tie in period for our current mortgage ends next Feb, we'll be switching to a mortgage that will allow us to overpay.

At the moment we're banking the money, but we plan to overpay by £400 a month, wich means we'll be mortgage free in 13 years if we stay in this house!

We're not planning on staying, however, but it's just amazing how much you can save in interest, and how much more deposit we'll have to put towards our next home.

    Overpaying rocks!
