Alterations-Edinburgh

I need to get my wedding dress altered but the shop don't do the alterations themselves so I rang up the two they recommended and asked for a guideline of prices (I know they can't give me an exact cost until they see the dress). Its just I live quite far away and wanted an idea...Anyhoo the first one that gave me a quote was for nearly £150 to have the hem taken up and some other smaller bits....the second one could't give me a quote or any idea of prices....So I rang the shop back and got more recommendations and I have a quote of £30 to take the hem up as a guideline. Has anyone used these people-stitches in Edinburgh?

If anyone could recommend someone who isn't too expensive that'd be great...Thanks

barnardos 'brides by appointment' shop (gorgie road) has someone local they use who is reasonable - even if you didn't get your dress there i'm sure they would tell you who that is (kim meek 0131 346 8568)

(their shop also does shoes and assessories)

Where's stitches? If its rose street Ive used them and they were OK but I dont think Id want my wedding dress done there. There is a dressmaker in Stockbridge (Raeburn Place next to the italian food holidays place) that are always very good and cheap and there is a wedding dress place in Hamilton Place that Im sure do alterations. Lilianah Dibac or something. I think they used to have a place in Bruntsfield and if its the same company they are very good.
