Paying tax on extra earnings

I am currently employed full time (earning 24k pa)and am thinking about taking on a little extra work to increase my income. The work involves writing articles and income will be paid through Paypal earning between £50-£100 per week. I am therefore wondering whether I need to declare this to the tax man and if so, how I would go about doing this?

Yes you must declare this and you need to do it within 3 months of starting. There is a dedicated help line to do so, details are here:

They will explain about keeping basic accounts and how it all goes on your tax return. They may even offer you a named advisor and courses to go on as well.
