Capital One

Hi all, thought you might find this slightly odd and ammusing.

I have been unable to pay my capital one card for about 4 months now. I answered the phone to a Filipino lady asking to speak to me so i thought what the hell i'll speak to her.

After telling her i could only afford £1pm as i had stated in my letters to capital one. She then proceded to tell me that i would be unable to obtain any credit for 6 years etc, but here is the kicker she told me it would affect my future employment as no employer will give a job to someone who does not pay their debts!

To which i replied you may as well wipe my balance if thats the case as you'll never be getting a penny!

    What an idiot.

Next time she rings, tell her you are recording the call and will report her to the OFT. They will love her.

1st credit are in the doo doo for much the same sort of poor advice.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Oh, dear or dear Capital One at their games again are they? They are also putting that on their correspondence now BTW and have been for months now eg late payment letters. My advice right now, would be NO more talking to Capital One on the phone. I've had this myself from their 'well trained account managers'. Funny thing is I seem to know more about just the basics than they did. The other thing is I am not too happy about talking to someone halfway across the world who has my personal data at their fingertips. ;)

No idea how they are getting with doing that on their letters, I've got numerous ones here with that somewhere on the back of them, but if that is NOT harassment by scaring someone and making them feel awful that they may never work again or get another job I simply do not know what is. As you can tell I am not a fan of Capital One.
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Yeah i dont think i'll be talking to them again. Makes me laugh how you write to them, send the letter 1st class recorded and they still dont have it. How can they phone you and not have all past correspondence.

I've had this with a debt collectors, they called me but didnt even have my letters on file. I've taken to saying call me back when you have all the correct information.

I refuse to let these people bully me on the phone. I am so lucky i am a thick skined person and dont let any of this worry me. :-)

Having seen their 'correspondence' English is clearly a second language to the ones writing them, they do not follow one to the other, and even someone who has dealt with them on my behalf said the same. I am not naturally assertive in life so that is why I now take an assertive stance with these people. Because you have to.

It's Capital One. They ignore everything. Including everything CCCS did for me, I sent to them, then I researched more online using various sources, all that ignored and even the person I have now got repeating all that for me has had the same thing. They just do what they like IMHO. The classic was when I came out of hospital last year. As you can appreciate I was in no mood to be having them on the phone that day. So I told whomever in no uncertain terms NOT to phone me as they were told not to weeks ago. I then broached the subject of them phoning me when in default of a CCA request. Poor person couldn't answer. Because they are not trained to know those things, just phone you up. Did I feel sorry for them? Not really because after being in hospital, having been blizted dozens of times by them and other creditors daily. I really didn't care.

Sorry to hear you were in hospital. Fortunatly for me my mother is a solicitor (does not work anymore) but she is helping me at the min. I'm not worried about any of it anymore because i have had to face the horrible truth that I will have to declare myself BR. Best thing to do is to laugh it off and remember we still have our familys and health.
