ASDA won't honour Leaflet

Received a leaflet through my letter box from ASDA it listed 1 litre Courvoisier for £14.98 A friend went there and go two bottles but the till showed full price of £20.20. she went to Customer service they refunded the difference and gave her £2 voucher. I went in today and the shelves have been cleared of Courvoisier. I asked a manager to get me a bottle on showing him the leaflet and he said. They would be restocking the shelves tomorrow with a disclaimer underneath say they will not honour their leaflet and will be selling at the full price. CAN THEY DO THIS?

Looks like one for the ASA0 -
maybe it would be best to let them re stock the shelfs first as the leaflets usually say whilst stocks last.
Also has the leaflet got any dates on ?0 -
No date on leaflet but it is headed "Christmas Drinks" so I presumed the price would be good until Christmas Day. I have informed my local trading stardards office.

Don't bother, I'm sure they can do this legally, they have to take the product off the shelf for 24 hours though.
It's a bit of a funny mistake to make though ???
Rich :¬)
Edit: I didn't know that a 'male-chicken-up' was a rude phrase

I think the offer was meant for the smaller bottle 70cl But the leaflet does say 1 liter

I have just had a reply from Trading Standards Central as follows:
"As your enquiry concerns a possible misleading advert, I have referred the case to the relevent Trading Standards department as they are the ones who will decide if it was a mistake or if it was indeed a mistake. It will only become an offence if Trading Standards believe that the leaflet was printed to entice customers to buy the product at the inflated price. I will request that Trading Standards contact you within 3 working days with the decision and if it is misleading will advise you on your rights. If you have not been contacted within the specified timescale, please contact us again".
As its a mistake then I don't think I'll get anywhere with it.

Either way it's still a mistake!0 -
Heads they win - tails you lose?
I think this might be viewed in the same light as the Toys R Us advert error? Worth trying the ASA?0 -
What was the Toysrus error and outcome?

I think the Toys R Us offer was something like if you buy a full-price Tomy "Big Dumper", Geoffrey the Giraffe will put on a show with a Shetland pony - fer the kiddies!!Filiss0
