Washing Machine Recommendation

Options
I think my washing machine has bitten the dust:mad: DH is going to look at it over the weekend and fingers crossed he can fix it - its making a loud banging noise.

Just in case he can't - can anyone recommend a decent one for around the £200 mark. there are 2 adults and 1 child in the house. I don't need a dryer function. I always bung everything in together and wash on either 30 or 40 deg. I really only need a very basic one. I do approx 2 -3 loads a week.

Many thanks.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Might be worth having a look over on the DIY thread as there have been a few threads recently about washing machine recommendations.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
  • i swear by indesit, basic but means less can go wrong! get a good wash and doesnt go on for hours - try the online sites and remember quidco. Had my first indesit 9 years and three house moves, and have had the last one for 5 years - do about 8-9 washes at least a week and havent even had to get the brushes done. hope this is some help to you

Avoid Hoover at all costs, they are awful ( in my experience, anyway).

I have just replaced mine with a Meile, even though I still have a few months left on the warranty.

I waited for weeks for the parts to arrive at the repair company when my Hoover went (repeatedly) wrong, causing me untold stress  The laundrette isn't only inconvenient, it's expensive

If I can prevent someone else from going through the same, I'll feel a lot better

Well the machine finally bit the dust last night. DH found replacement parts that cost £190.

I got a whirlpool from Tesco direct for around £250 with free delivery (on Tuesday) and buy now pay in 6 months time - which means I can easily save £60 per month and pay off within 4 months.

Thank you all for your input.
